Why does the water in the aquarium turn green

One of the most common problems associated with the care of the aquarium — changing the color of the water. Although greening does not bring tangible harm to plants and fish, owners begin to worry a little untidy appearance of such an artificial pond. So what are the reasons for such changes and how to eliminate them?

Reasons for color change
It is always easier to prevent a problem from occurring than to puzzle over how to fix it. The question of the proper aquarium care is also a concern. To prevent water turbidity, it is necessary to regularly check the equipment for aquariums, properly organize the food of fish, as well as choose the right place for your “home pond”.

But if difficulties arose, most probably the reason lies in one of the following factors:

incorrect excessive lighting;
water pollution;
improper feeding of fish.
All these mistakes lead to the fact that the water appears euglena-the main culprit of “flowering” water. In addition, an excess of organic waste and rotting of uneaten feed that has settled to the bottom lead to greening.

How to fix the problem?
There are several very effective methods of combating greening. If it’s all about lighting, darken the aquarium and ensure it has the right light mode. It is best if in winter it is illuminated for no more than 10 hours, and in summer-12 hours a day.

In case of water pollution, special aquarium chemistry will help. It easily cleans the water of greenery and is easy to use. Although another method is effective — to run live Daphnia into the aquarium, which will quickly deal with algae. At the same time, it is not necessary to change the water again and again — this will not correct the situation, but only stimulate the active growth of algae.

If you do notice organic waste, transplant the fish into another tank for a while and clean the soil. For water purification, you can also use special filters or additives that kill algae. What method of cleaning to give preference, decide at your own discretion. The main thing is that the fish again feel comfortable, and the greens do not interfere with you to admire your Pets.
